Consider when you are trying to clean a cap with a cap spray and a brush. Is this mixture of mostly water, a little soap and a little perfume really going to get out the dirt in your cap? The answer is "No". If you use a cap cleaning spray you are really only covering up the grime with "watery perfume" and a "dash of soap", you are not getting it clean. So we are telling everyone when it comes to Cap Care, "Just WASH the Cap"! Your caps are more durable than you think.

Here are some cap washing and hat washing tips when using or cap hat washer:

OLDER CAPS OR CAPS WITHOUT THE INSIDE TAG: Always look at the tag inside your cap to see the care instructions for washing. If your tag is gone then use extra care for that cap. When cleaning older caps take some "Spray & Wash", rub it gently on the inside headband part of the cap. Rinse by rubbing with a washcloth and then air dry. If the color has not changed after it has dried, then it is safe to wash it.

WOOL CAPS: Again, always look at the inside tag first. Wash in the sink with cool water and mild laundry detergent such as Woolite. Be gentle with your wool cap, if you scrub, rub or twist, you will ruin it. Rinse well in cool water and roll in a towel to remove most of the water. Let it air dry as you will all of your caps. EXTRA TIP: If you dry the wool cap on your head it will shrink to the exact shape of your head!

NEW OR NEWER CAPS: Cotton, wool or jersey, what is your cap made of? Cotton twill is strong and durable. It has that "cotton" look to it. Cotton polyester blends are tough, bright and usually colorfast. Jersey mesh is durable, colorfast knit that is easy to wash. Wool is warm but can shrink in water. You must take extra care with wool.

With the Cap Washer you may place your caps in the dishwasher or in the washing machine. Always look on the cap tag for care instructions. You may use a small amount of "bleach for colors" and use it according to the box directions. For example, the color bleach is to be placed in the washer (with the water first) before placing any items in the washer.

For dishwasher use you can use a little of the dishwasher soap, it does contain a little bleach anyway. So use it sparingly when washing your caps in the dishwasher. If you are concerned about germs and food in the dishwasher along with your cap, consider that Bleach kills almost everything.

After your cap is washed let it "air dry". Take some clean dish towels, stuff them in the inside of the cap to get your round shape back, then turn it right side up and let it air dry. This will also bring back some stiffness as when you first purchased it. You may also air dry your cap while it is in the "Cap Washer".
